OPEN! Harpenden’s Best Bouncy Blowdry

Omg. Finally. A place in Harpenden where a girl can get a good blow-dry. Not even just a good blow-dry, a great one up there with the likes of the London and Essex salons which you pay an arm and a leg for.

Open Hairdressers caught my eye as I was walking past their salon and they were holding their opening party. As a small salon, their location is perfect right across from Waitrose in Harpenden. Its small exterior might be slightly hidden, but once you’re inside it definitely stands out.

Firstly I love the decor; white, bright and bold. I love anything with a modern white interior and a few statement art decor designs, like this really cool sign they have which catches your eye as soon as you walk in.

Secondly the staff are just lovely. I had my hair cut, coloured, treated and dried by Jade – we got on so well it was like I was chatting with an old friend. I feel that when it comes to girls getting their hair done, it’s so important for your stylist to make you feel comfortable because when you’re going through a long treatment, there’s nothing worse than long, awkward silences and nothing to chat about!

There’s a few things I loved about my hair cut and colour. Firstly, colour wise – I couldn’t have asked for better. I went for a full head of highlights and Jade somehow already knew that I wanted to avoid the brassy yellow. I absolutely love how pearly and white – blonde she made my hair, almost an icy blonde and not a brassy strand in sight.

Secondly, she cut the perfect amount off. Not only did she cut me a new fringe (throw back to scary childhood days when your mum would make you get a wonky fringe cut?!) that I actually love, she listened when I said I only wanted the dead ends off – no more. There’s not many things worse than when you ask for a trim but come out of the salon practically bald. I bet I’m not the only one who on many occasions has wanted to choke slam their hairdresser when they say ‘so are you happy with it?’…. erm NO bish you just cut off half my hair! *cries*

And thirdly, my blow dry was bouncy, curly and FULL of volume. Most blow drys I’ve had locally I have been underwhelmed with because they’ve always dropped within 2 minutes, or when you ask for a curly blow dry and you leave with just ‘dry’…

Open Hairdressers have moved from Central London, which might explain the professionalism and extra bouncy blow dry expertise. Wherever it came from, I am DEFINITELY going back!

If you want to try them out or fancy handing over your hair before a night out to get some extra oompf, I 100% recommend!

Love, L x
